Employers – Registering; Post an Internship; Post a Job; Candidate Search

Posting your opportunity on Urban Employ is easy, but you must be registered and logged in.

  1. Select your opportunity’s geographical region by clicking “Regions” on the top orange Urban Employ Menu Bar, and choose your desired region.  NOTE: You must be using a regional site to correctly post an opportunity (i.e. detroit.urbanemploy.com, chicago.urbanemploy.com).
  2. Register or login by either following the directions in the registration box on the right-hand side of the screen or the upper right hand menu.
  3. 1st Hint: You are logged in if you see “My Account” in the Menu Bar.
  4. 2nd Hint: Complete your profile including contact phone number, website and logo for greater user interest.

How to post an internship – It’s Free!

  1. After you are logged in, select the “Post a job or internship” button.
  2. Complete your company profile by clicking “My Account.”
  3. Select the post an internship option.
  4. Fill out the required fields.
  5. NOTE: Online application is not available for internships! You must provide contact information to submit application materials.

How to post a job? – Purchase job credits to post a job

  1. After you are logged in, select the “Post a job or internship” button.
  2. If you do not have any active job credits, you have the option of purchasing job credits*
  3. Fill out the required fields.
  4. To use the Employer-Candidate Manager features, you must enable online application.

*Payment will be completed and secured through PayPal.  You will be redirected to PayPal and back to Urban Employ once payment is completed.

Job and internships postings remain active on Urban Employ for 30 days.

Employers with job credits may utilize our beta candidate database search. To access the search, go to anyone of our regional sites by clicking “Regions” in the Menu Bar.  Next, select User Search located in the bottom menu, and follow on-screen instructions – Update coming soon.

Applicants – Find a Job

Job and internship seekers must be logged in to view jobs and internships.  Registration, viewing opportunities, and applying to opportunities are free. To register or log in:

  1. Select a geographical region by clicking “Regions” on the left-hand side of the orange Urban Employ Menu Bar, and choose your desired region.
  2. Register or log in by either following the directions in the registration box on the right-hand side of the screen or the upper right hand menu.
  3. Provided required name and email address.
  4. Browse or search for opportunities in any region.  To change regions, click the “Regions” menu.
  5. Urban Employ includes both UE listings and Idealist listings. For Urban Employ listings, follow given instructions or click on the “Apply” button to apply online by sending your resume if applicable.
  6. 1st Hint: Complete your My Account profile including uploading your resume to apply to Urban Employ listings online.
  7. 2nd Hint: Urban Employ provides a Privacy Settings option for users not actively searching.

Employer-Candidate Manager Overview

Welcome to the Employer-Candidate Manager overview.  Major features include interview request, document request, and instant candidate feedback through our messaging system.  Employer-Candidate Manager is for jobs postings only.

Resume Download & Candidate Notification

  • Registered employers may discreetly download resumes of job applicants that apply to job postings online or User Search candidates (if applicable) by clicking “Download Resume.”
  • Job and internship seekers will receive instant notification via email and the “My Notifications” submenu located in the “My Account” menu (See Urban Employ Menu Bar) once a resume is downloaded. Remember, Urban Employ provides a Privacy Settings option for users not actively searching.

Interview Request/Document Retrieval

  • Employers may request interviews or additional documents (besides resumes) from job applicants that apply to job postings online by clicking on “Request Interviews” or “Request Documents.”  Follow the on-screen instructions.
  • Employers will be notified when an applicant uploads requested documents via email and in “My Notifications.”
  • Uploaded documents can be retrieved by re-clicking “Request Documents” for the desired applicant under the relevant job posting.
  • Applicants that receive interview or document requests will be notified via email and either the “My Notifications” or “Documents Requests” sub-menus located in the ” My Account” (See Urban Employ Menu Bar).
  • Applicants will have up to three interview time options to accept.  If an interview is accepted, then the requesting employer will be notified via email and in “Interview Replies” sub-menu located in “My Accounts.”
